Transportation at its Finest

There’s no doubt about it – travel can be a hassle these days. But we’re happy to tell you that getting to and from Scottsdale has never been easier! With three airports serving the area, leisure travelers and meeting goers can anticipate a smooth landing in greater Scottsdale. And once you’re on the ground, the options for getting around town range from rental cars, luxury limousines and executive coaches to souped-up golf carts, horse-drawn carriages and free downtown trolleys.

Smooth Landing

Named “America’s Friendliest Airport” by passenger vote, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is the main facility serving the Scottsdale area and is located an easy 15-minute drive from downtown. Sky Harbor welcomes more than 120,000 domestic and international passengers each day, processes more than 1,200 arriving and departing flights daily, and offers nonstop service to more than 100 destinations worldwide.

Conveniently located nine miles north of downtown, Scottsdale Airport is the ideal choice for corporate jet travel. This premier airport is one of the nation’s busiest single-runway facilities, recording more than 150,000 takeoffs and landings each year. International clients who have made an appointment can further streamline the process by having U.S. Customs greet them on the tarmac upon arrival.

And for those who prefer to fly Allegiant airlines, Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport is located approximately 40 minutes from Scottsdale and offers service to more than 30 cities in the continental U.S.

Ground Transportation

Getting around Scottsdale is easy with a wide variety of traditional and out-of-the-box options. For leisure visitors, the usual rental cars, airport shuttles and taxis are solid options, but why not shake things up with something a little more unexpected?

The free Downtown Trolley will take you anywhere in the city center, including Old Town, the Arts District, Fifth Avenue Shopping District, Scottsdale Fashion Square, Scottsdale Waterfront and SouthBridge. The trolley runs daily year-round (excluding major holidays) from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Other options for getting around downtown include horse-drawn carriages (available most evenings and weekends) and high-powered, multi-passenger golf carts that are perfect for club hopping.

If you’re staying at Talking Stick Resort, the Talking Stick Trolley is the one for you. Stops along its route include the resort, Octane Raceway, Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, Topgolf Scottsdale and downtown Scottsdale. The Talking Stick Trolley is free and has select hours from October through April.

And for groups, add in luxury motor coaches, shiny limousines and executive sedans, as well as trolley charters and a group-pedal-powered tavern tour vehicle, to help your group explore Scottsdale in style.
