The vintage car community has no shortage of superstar collectors, but one can argue that there is none bigger than Ron Pratte and the collection he has amassed over the years. Total numbers are estimated to be more than 100 cars and 1,400 items of memorabilia.

The Phoenix native and multi-millionaire has be seen front and center at past Barrett-Jackson auctions where he has purchased most of his collection. Granting no interviews to the media, he remains somewhat of a mystery outside his collection. That collection is being auctioned off at this year’s Barrett-Jackson and is estimated to fetch at least $50 million. To put that in perspective, the sales record achieved at last years auction was $113 million. Yeah, it’s that big of deal.

Some notable cars going up for sale include a 1950 GM Futurliner (which all sales from this car will benefit the Armed Forces Foundation) and a 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 Super Snake (one of two built, and the other was totaled in a crash).

Look for Pratte’s collection to be the highlight of the show this year and for last year’s sales record to topple. Stay tuned for event schedules to see the collection on the auction block.
